El Spring Trainning ha comenzado, este es el momento cuando todos los contadores están en cero, el momento cuando cada equipo tiene oportunidad de ganarlo todo, cada uno va a los campos en Arizona y la Florida a alistarse para la nueva temporada; Algunos jugadores están intentando hacer a un equipo de MLB por primera vez, otros han estado allí por un tiempo y ya tienen su lugar en el roster, otros tienen una nueva oportunidad de volver a las mayores despues de haber jugado en otras ligas; Hay jugadores que visten nuevos uniformes, algunos fueron cambiados, otros firmados como agentes libres, algunos ni siquiera tienen  contrato todavía, algunos están intentando mejorar los números de la temporada anterior, otros quieren mantenerlos arriba , algunos van por cifras record que les consigan un lugar en historia del béisbol, algunos todavía se están recuperando de lesiones y comenzarán la temporada más adelante, y para algunos jugadores éste va a ser su ultima temporada. Cualqueira sea el caso, todos los fanaticos y gente de los medios relacionada con el beisbol están haciendo sus predicciones y analisis sobre lo que viene en  los proximos meses. ¿Así pues, cuáles son sus expectativas? de que equipo eres fanatico? ¿hasta dónde llegara este año?

So the Spring Trainning has begun, this is the moment when the all the W-L Counters are at zero, the moment when every team has a chance to win it all, everyone is going to the fields at Arizona and Florida to get ready for the new season; Some players are trying to make an MLB team for the first time, others have been there for awhile and already have their spot in the roster, others are getting a new chance to come back to the majors after a while playing in other leagues; There are players wearing new uniforms, some were traded, some signed as free agents, some don't even have a contract yet, some are trying to raise numbers they had last season, others just want to keep them up, some are going for milestones to get a place in baseball history, some are still recovering from injuries and will start the season later, and for some players this is going to be the las one.
Whatever the case is, all the baseball fans and people from the baseball media are making their predictions and analisis about what's coming for the next months in baseball.

So, what are your expectations? what's your favorite team? how far will they go?

Felix Hernandez Cy Young??

The Seatlle Mariners Ace Falix Hernandez has been the best American League pitcher this year, that is for sure,  that is what his personal stats show, unfortunately for him, his team is among the worst offesinve teams in MLB, and we can confirm that just by taking a glance at Jose Lopez BA who is one of the most important hitters in that team, it is 240, the only exception we can do is Ichiro, who hit 200 hits for 10th season in a row; However it is incredible the lack of offensive support Felix has had, he is the SO and ERA leader in the AL.
You see it as a paradox that hi has 13 wins and 12 losses when you check his personal statistics, but the good luck has not been with him.

  

Last Year the Venezuelan Pitcher was 2nd in the Cy Young voting behind Zack Greinke who no dubt deserved the award. This year Felix's situation is sort of like last year's Greinke, the problem is that Hernandez will not even acheive 15 wins, and he has lost 12 games already. If we take a look at the past we will see that Pat Hentgen won the Cy Young with 10 losses, but the difference is that he won 20 games that year(1996). Felix is in a difficult place when we talk about wins and losses, but there is no doubt he has been the  most domminant pitcher of the American League, we'll have to wait until the voting ends to see what happens...

30 Home Runs, Miguel Cabrera

Last Night at Yankee Stadium, Detroit Tiger's 1st baseman Jose Miguel Cabrera hit two Home Runs to get to 30 home runs this season. This is the 6th season he gets to that number in his career.
Several people, including me, think that Cabrera is one of the most powerful among the Venezuelan hitters ever played in the majors, for he is able to blast the ball over the right field fence like a lefty, also he swings his bat very quickly so the pitchers have bad times trying to beat him with fastballs, there is no doubt he is dangerous at the plate, with a career Batting Average of 314, he is in the elite of Major League hitters.
This season he is having very important numbers, he has been on the run for the triple crown since the first week, right now he is first with 98 RBI's followed by A-Rod who has 97, he is second in Homers with 30, and second in Batting Average with 340 behind Josh Hamilton.
Those numbers make us think that Cabrera is also a strong candidate for the MVP award, but although Josh Hamilton does not have numbers as good as Cabrera his team is in the first place of the AL west division and there is a very good chance that they make it to the playoffs, and Detroit is 12 games behind in their division, so it will not be easy for cabrera to be the AL MVP this year, although it's still possible.

I still Remember the 2003 season when Florida called him up to the Majors and he blasted it in the playoffs, he had a great world series and impressed everybody when he hit a Home Run against Roger Clemens to the right field, he was one of the most importan pieces to beat the Yankees that year.

 

Let us see what happens at the end of the season, this guy is printing great numbers season by season, and if he keeps playing that way he is going to be among the greatests by the end of his career

"Fernando va mas rapido que tu, Puedes confirmarnos que entendiste el mensaje?"

Fernando Alonso finalizo en el primer lugar ayer en Hockenheim, seguido por Felipe Massa (su compañero) y Sebastian Vettel.


 

Alrededor de la vuelta numero 45 Fernando estaba en segundo lugar, detrás de Massa, Fernando estaba siendo seguido por Vettel, que había acortado la distancia y lo estaba alcanzando. Fue entonces cuando Felipe recibió el mensaje en la radio "ok, así que ... Fernando es más rápido que tú. ¿Puedes confirmar que entendiste el mensaje?". Felipe sin duda entendió el mensaje, como todos los que lo oyeron, y me hizo recordar los tiempos en que Rubens Barichello y Michael Schumacher fueron el dúo de Ferrari, Barrichello recibió ese tipo de mensajes tantas veces que no puedo contar con los dedos de mis manos, por supuesto que se debe a que Schumacher siempre estaba en la carrera por el título, por lo que el equipo lo apoyo en la mayoría de los casos, aun cuando eso le costó varias victorias Rubens o apariciones en el podio.
Pues lo mismo ocurrió este domingo pasado (ayer), Fernando ha reunido más puntos durante el campeonato que Felipe, por lo que es el candidato más importante para llegar a la cabeza de la clasificación; en la 49 ª Felipe se dejo adelantar por Fernando para darle el primer lugar. Esta orden de equipo le costó a ferrari una multa de US$100,000 aun cuando mucha gente esperaba otro tipo de castigo.Después de que la carrera de la clasificación es la siguiente:

"Fernando is faster than you. Can you confirm you understood that message?"

Fernando Alonso finished in the first place yesterday in Hockenheim, followed by Felipe Massa (his teammate) and Sebastian Vettel.

 

Around the lap number 45 Fernando was in the second place, behind Massa, Fernando was being followed by Vettel who had shortened the distance and was reaching him. That was when  Felipe received the message on the radio "ok, so...   Fernando is faster than you. Can you confirm you understood that message?". Felipe certainly understood the message, as everybody who heard it did, and it made me remind of the times when Rubens Barichello and Michael Schumacher were the Ferrari duo, and Barrichello received that kind of messages so many times that i can't count them with my fingers, of course it is because Schumacher was always in the run for the title, so the team supported him the most in those cases, even when it costed Rubens several victories or podium appearances.
Well the same thing happened this past sunday (yesterday) Fernando has gathered more pints during the championship than Felipe, so he is the most important candidate to reach th head of the ranking; In the 49th lap Felipe let Fernando get the first place. This team order costed ferrari a fine of US$ 100.000, even when many people espected other kind of punishment.
